Rethinking Downtown

The Downtown District is pleased to offer property owners and businesses the opportunity to apply for our internal Facade Improvement Grant to assist with the costs associated with exterior improvements such as:

Once a fully completed application is submitted to the NBDD office, including attachments with renderings and quotes of the proposed work, the application will be submitted to the Façade Improvement Committee for review, which will make a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners to approve or deny at their next regularly scheduled Board meeting.

*Applications received after completion of work will not be considered

How it works

The New Britain Downtown District allocates funding to the Façade Improvement Program annually, running concurrently with the NBDD’s fiscal year.  Property owners and business owners may apply for a 50% matching grant for costs related to the eligible improvements mentioned above. The maximum grant to be awarded is $5,000.
